South Austin is usually considered anything south of the “River” (Lady Bird Lake). Over the years this has come to mean many things to many people. The laid-back, slower paced atmosphere still thrives in a large portion of South Austin but it has also given way to include the modern, urban lifestyle of many newcomers. Southpark Meadows which is located off of I-35 and Slaughter Lane provides an abundance of retail business, that includes national brand stores and restaurants to choose from. Brodie Lane to the West, is home to many retail shops and restaurants. South Austin residents do not have far to go in any direction to find what they are looking for. And in between, residents will find many local businesses, retail shops, restaurants, and other entertainment there for you to enjoy.

South Austin is home to many academically recognized neighborhood schools. Neighborhood school boundaries change, so buyers should contact Austin ISD for exact boundaries and other pertinent school information. There are a variety of private schools in the area available as well. The Austin area is home to many colleges and universities from which to choose.
